Our environmental and social commitment:

Become a regenerative company and create a positive impact on the planet and society.

We are on a mission, lastingly committed to a more responsible world. Our team of 40 passionate, ambitious and altruistic employees does everything in its power to accelerate our ecological transformation, limit the impact of our activities and maximise our positive contribution to the planet

We are guided by the conviction that increasing the lifespan of our products is the best way to be sustainable. We campaign against planned obsolescence, repairing and giving a second life to our products.

We have an important role to play in preserving our mountain ranges and regions. Changes that need to be mirrored in society in order to reconnect our communities with nature. We support causes and projects with a strong social and environmental impact. We initiate small everyday actions that lead to big changes for future generations.

So that our most beautiful stories continue to be written in the mountains.

Our vision:

A Sustainable Performance roadmap
based on 3 pillars.

cms_page_88-icon-1.svgSUSTAINABILITY

Accelerate our ecological transformation and limit the impact of our activities.

We are convinced that increasing the lifespan of our products is the best way to be sustainable.

That's our driving force: innovation and R&D at the service of the sustainable performance of our products. We rely on an increasingly responsible production chain and the implementation of a circular economy model to considerably reduce our environmental impact.

Longevity is the very essence of sustainability.
We have joined the fight against premature obsolescence and support our customers in the correct use of our products to extend their lifespan.

Customer service is one of the pillars of the company’s development. 2025 will see the birth of the future "Réparerie" Cimalp, a workshop entirely dedicated to product repair. An ambitious CSR project to promote environmental sustainability, stimulate innovation and have a strong social impact by creating jobs.

We are redoubling our efforts to become a regenerative company and accelerate our transition to a circular economy.
We want to give products a second life: materials and products must become reusable resources rather than consumables.

cms_page_88-icon-mountains-heart.svgCOMMUNITY

Maximise our contribution to the planet.
Reconnect our communities to the mountains.

We are fully committed to tackling the climate and environmental crisis that is having an increasingly severe impact on mountain ecosystems. As a major player in the outdoor industry, we need to be a driving force for positive change.

Restoring biodiversity, overcoming pollution, eliminating waste, promoting the role of women in mountain professions... Every year, working with our teams and our customers, we support initiatives and organisations on the ground that are working to protect our mountain ranges and countryside, ensuring fair access to the mountains and helping regenerate nature.

We have a duty to pass on the message, particularly to future generations. We believe in the transformative and liberating power of nature. We are committed to making it more accessible in our communities. Because we are convinced that by connecting as many people as possible to the mountains and nature from an early age, they will establish a deeper bond with the planet and learn to love, respect and protect it.

1 order = 1 good deed to do our duty by the planet.

This innovative start-up is redefining the way in which businesses can make a positive contribution to the environment and society, with certified actions on the ground that are in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations for 2030.

In 2023, our shared commitment to our customers has resulted in:

green-trees

24,457 trees planted, the equivalent of 691t of carbon absorbed per year, 1,843 hours of work created, and 230,460 m² of reforestation..

green-recycle

21,396 accessories manufactured, the equivalent of 1,248 hours of technical training, 128 kg of cotton saved.

Given the amount of fabrics and clothes thrown away, upcycling is a real solution for the future if we are to move towards a circular economy!

green-recycle

25 m² of coral restored

More than a million animals and plant species live in coral reefs. 1 billion people live within 100 kilometres of reefs and are likely to benefit from the ecosystem provided by reefs.

green-recycle

431 kg of plastic removed, the equivalent of 86,220 plastic bags, 12,933 plastic bottles.

Prim’Air
arrow-down
Connecting the younger generation to the mountains is a responsibility we take very seriously.
At Cimalp, we believe that by encouraging more young teenagers to get outdoors and hike our beautiful mountain trails, they will not only improve their health (in France only 9% of 11-year-old boys and 17% of girls meet the recommended amount of weekly physical activity*), but above all they will establish a valuable and lasting bond with their environment.
We have launched the Prim'Air programme, in collaboration with teachers from the French Ministry of Education. With this scheme, every year primary school classes spend a day hiking in Vercors and/or Pilat mountains. The younger generation learns about our rich mountain ecosystems and are taught how extremely sensitive these ecosystems are, particularly in the face of climate change.
Accompanied by mountain guides from the Cimalp sports centre, over the 2024-2025 school year, 1,000 schoolchildren aged between 7 and 11 will discover how great it feels to exercise and how beautiful the landscape is that surrounds them. But most importantly, they will learn about solidarity and the need to treat nature with all the care it deserves. We are proud to pass on these values to them.

Roadmap 2030
Towards a circular economy

We are committed to taking action to reduce our carbon footprint. We have implemented a two-year plan to measure our emissions and to achieve global carbon neutrality by 2030.

Eco-design

70% of our environmental impact comes from the manufacture of our products. So, quite logically, this is one of the priorities for action to reduce our carbon footprint. To achieve this, we want to promote the use of responsible and renewable materials in our collections, then make those materials our standard choice.
The proportion of eco-friendly and responsible materials used in our products is constantly increasing - 10% in 2022, 20% in 2024 - and will increase considerably to reach 50% in 2026, 70% in 2028 and we hope 100% by 2030.

Commitment #2
Sustainability & circularity
arrow-down

We are committed to promoting a circular economy.
Increasing the lifespan of our products is an essential part of the company's sustainable development. As we move towards a more circular economy, we rely on innovation and R&D to create the most sustainable and virtuous life cycles possible for our products.

greenleaf Responsible design & materials: product repairability must be included from the design stage.

  • 100% sustainable materials
  • Optimisation of fabric loss / offcut rates
  • Durability testing (tear resistance, abrasion resistance, waterproofing).

greenleaf Maintenance: developing our support for customers to maximise the long-term performance of our products (advice on use and maintenance instructions adapted to each type of product).

greenleaf Repairs: offering a repair solution for all our equipment. Customer service is at the heart of the company's sustainability plan, with investment tripling in 2024 to support the creation of the Cimalp "Réparerie", a workshop dedicated to product repairs. An ambitious CSR project to create jobs, promote environmental sustainability and stimulate innovation, with the eventual creation of an Innovation Lab dedicated entirely to sustainability. By 2030, our investment in Sustainability & Repair will have increased fivefold.

The company's future HQ in Drôme will be 100% energy self-sufficient.  A major eco-responsible project to match our development and ambitions. Solar panels, a heat pump and adiabatic air conditioning: an investment of over €10m for a modern, ecological and cooperative working environment, where our employees can flourish and contribute to the company’s sustainable development.

The aim is to produce more energy than we consume.
